Random Acts of Kindness to Benefit It's All About the Kids and Challenged Athletes Foundation

Hello Friends,

Here is a quick follow up on the success of our first Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) party May 7th here in La Jolla California!

The event was held at the newly redesigned “The Steak House at Azul La Jolla.” This RAK event benefitted the It’s All About Kids Foundation and the Challenged Athletes Foundation.

We had world renowned photographer Joel Zwink and framing artist Mark Mecalis donate their expertise toward some amazing photos that were a part of the silent auction. We also had a variety of other auction items from La Jolla Spa MD, The San Diego Padres, San Diego Prestige, Mind Body Partnerships, David Perez, Hacienda De Las Rosas Winery, Dr. Patrick Rardin, lunch with local celebrities such as Diane Jacob, Tom Blair, plus many other fun items… Thank you Southern Wine & Spirits and Hope Wine for your wine donations that were enjoying at the party!

It was a beautiful warm La Jolla evening, with guests enjoying music, friends, wine and gourmet appetizers which were served throughout the evening. Guests also took advantage of the breathtaking, panoramic ocean views that the restaurant’s observation patio offered. With over 130 people in attendance and $3,000 raised, this party was a success! We had several representatives from CAF who attended, such as Oz Sanchez, a Paralympic Gold medalist in Beijing who is noted at the fastest man in the world on a hand cycle. David Lee, a three time QMDC hand cyclist, was there as well.

We would like to thank all who donated and attended this special event. A very special thank you goes out to Molly Cooper and Barbie Daitch, who helped make this a very special fundraiser.

I hope you enjoyed yourself and I look forward to seeing you at my next “Partying with a Purpose”!!!

Our next event will be in the later part of September..

Talk with you soon,
Carlos

December RAK...Helping the Kids at Christmas!

Dear Friends and Family of Paradise Found,

We want to thank everyone who was able to come to our last Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) event of the year.

We would also like to give a special thank you to those that helped make this event a great success:
- Sheep and Matt at the Firehouse for donating their beautiful
sky deck for the venue.
- Angela with It's All About the Kids Foundation for organizing
the toy drive and bringing in the auction items.
- Hope Wine for donating their delicious wine to the event.
- Georgina and Malcolm for helping Paradise Found behind the scenes.

With all your help, we were able to help many kids in need this
holiday season. We raised $400 in cash donations, $720 raised from
the auction, and 94 toys & 200 books were donated.

Thank you all again so much for your generosity and participating in helping less fortunate children have a Merry Christmas.

Happy Holidays, enjoy the pictures and see you all in '09!!

Please Click Here to Help By Donating (100% tax deductible)

I will be supporting the Challenged Athletes Foundation again this year by riding my road bike (Oct 20th-26th) over 600 miles down the coast of California from San Francisco to San Diego in the 2nd annual Qualcomm Million Dollar Challenge Ride. Our goal is to raise over $1,000,000 which will be granted to hundreds of Iraqi war veterans who have been severely injured and have lost legs, arms, eye sight etc. I will then be competing in the 14th annual CAF Half Iron Man which will be held at La Jolla Cove on Sunday Oct. 28th.

Please support this amazing organization!

CAF Million Dollar Challenge

Last years' ride was such an unbelievable experience I am riding again and I need your help to raise some money. Check out my pictures from last year:

The QUALCOMM Million Dollar Challenge is an unforgettable seven-day, 600-mile journey down the breathtaking California coastline from San Francisco to San Diego. The ride begins on Saturday, October 20 with an arrival in San Diego on Friday, October 26. Participants have the option of riding a final stage on the 56-mile bike course used for the San Diego Triathlon Challenge on Sunday, October 28. The QUALCOMM Million Dollar Challenge riders will play a memorable role in that day’s “celebration of abilities.”

Participation includes a fully supported ride, including hotel accommodations for seven nights, daily breakfast, lunch and most dinners, tour leaders, sag wagons, mechanical support, first aid, massage, and bike transport from Southern California to San Francisco prior to the start of the ride. Each rider will be outfitted daily with MDC-branded cycling apparel and have the opportunity to take part in a 20-week training program, including group rides in San Diego, weeknight skill workouts, indoor cycling classes and a customized training manual.

The money raised for the QUALCOMM Million Dollar Challenge will help seed a capital campaign for the construction of a Challenged Athletes Foundation headquarters facility, unless otherwise directed by the donor, in which event, such donations will be applied towards the payment of additional handcycles, racing chairs, sports chairs and sports prosthetics for challenged athletes, as well as help subsidize their competition and training expenses.
